Lost access to my site due to domain mapping error.
-
I was recently trying out a few business plan features on my site and I had a domain map along with it. I decided to get rid of the domain map so that I could use the domain elsewhere. After removing the map, the domain (squarespace) still pointed to my WP site. I went into squarespace and removed the WP nameservers but my WP site still has that domain as the url. As a result, I cannot access my WP site via achitena.wordpress.com. Is this just a matter of time needed for DNS information to update or some change needs to be done on the back end?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Additional info: My WP site’s current url reads as “achitena.com”, which shouldn’t be because I cancelled the map. If I try to access anything under the “My Site” tab (Stats, Blog Posts, Settings etc) it says “Site not found” because of course, it is pointing to the url “achitena.com” and not “achitena.wordpress.com”.
Can someone change the url on the back end so that it points to “achitena.wordpress.com”?

Hi there,
Because you had a Business Plan site with plugins installed things work a bit differently here.
Please point your domain’s name servers back to WordPress.com, and let me know once you’ve done that. Then I can properly disconnect the domain from the site so it goes back to using the free address. But the domain needs to be properly connected for me to be able to disconnect it.
Once that’s done, you can then point the domain back to Squarespace.

Hi kokkieh,
I’ve done as you have asked. “achitena.com” now goes to my WP site. Thank you.

Thanks. We’ll need to wait for the name servers to finish updating, which can take a few hours. I’ll check back on your site later and let you know once I’ve been able to unlink the domain.

It looks like the name servers are still updating:

But I’m keeping an eye on this and will let you know as soon as it’s done. Thanks for your patience in the meantime :)

Okay, your domain is now completely disconnected. You can now point it back to the correct host, and you should again be able to also access the free WordPress.com address if you click on My Sites.
Thanks again for your patience while I worked on this.
