I tried to install a plug in for my company’s site (child theme configurator), and after i tried to activate the child theme, there is a blank page when i go to my site’s url, and when i go to the wp-admin page, this message appears “This page isn’t working
(url here) is currently unable to handle this request.
    HTTP ERROR 500”
how do i regain access to my site?

  • Hi there,

It sounds like the site you mentioned is a self-hosted WordPress site. HTTP ERROR 500 is quite impossible to happen in sites hosted on WordPress.com.

Try disabling the plugin and see if the problem goes away. I found this how-to guide that might be helpful to you: https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-fix-the-internal-server-error-in-wordpress/

For self-hosted WordPress questions, you’re recommended to post them at the WordPress.org forum and seek help from the experts and volunteer members there. You may need to register an account if you don’t already have one.

Please be informed that the staff and members of this forum could only help you out with support topics related to WordPress.com sites but not self-hosted WordPress sites as they’re separate entities and independent from each other.
