Lost access to wordpress.com site

I started a site on wordpress.com in 2016 and need to access it to retrieve some old posts that appear to have been deleted on our new host. The trouble is I can no longer access the original wordpress.com site from my dashboard, although it still seems to be active. How do I go about restoring access to the site?

Are you sure you are logged in on the same WordPress.com account as the one you have the WordPress.com blog with? It should ideally show up on the left sidebar and you should be able to access your WordPress.com blog posts there.
Can you share more information on why you say it’s not showing up on the left sidebar on your WordPress.com?

I say it isn’t showing on the sidebar because it isn’t. However, I still see old notifications related that website, so I’m sure I’m on the correct account.

@timhosking, Hi there, what is the URL of the WordPressdotcom site you are referring to? Is it possible you registered it under a different username account than this one?

I have another account, but it isn’t listed there either. Using this account I can still see the notifications I received from the site, so I’m pretty sure I have the right account.

OK-I do see you as an author on that site, but I also see https://rochdaleherald.wordpress.com/author/rochdaleherald/
Do you see that site listed here and, if so, what is the user role mentioned there for your timhosking account?

I was an administrator on that account. The other admin was Frank, but I don’t know what email address he used. I think there was also James.

(email visible only to moderators and staff) is also me, but I don’t think that’s what I used for that site.

Hello again, if you do not see rochdaleherald.wordpress.com in the list of all your sites on WordPressdotcom that I linked to earlier, that usually means this username account is not associated with it. You probably need to be logged in with a different username account than this one.

I’ve looked into this and your timhosking account was removed from rochdaleherald.wordpress.com several months ago by a site administrator.
If this was done in error, please contact one of the site administrators and ask if they are able to add you as a site user. We are unable to make changes to a site without the owner’s permission but they are welcome to get in touch if they have any questions.

Can you tell me the first three letters of the site admin’s email address? It may be me.

For security reasons, I can’t give you any information about the email addresses being used for the other accounts.
The other two administrators are breadcrumbtv and rochdaleherald. If you believe you may be the owner of one of these accounts you can try resetting the password. If that doesn’t work, we’ll need you to fill out the Account Recovery form instead.
The other option is to contact one of these administrators directly if you know their email address.
