lost all files when moving from MSN spaces blog

    I am not sure if I am the only one that encounter this problem. Recently I sign up to my kewei88.spaces.live.com and was suggested to upgrade my blog to wordpress. I did as instructed but for some reasons I didn’t finish the step for. When I tried logining this new blog space I am founding that all my old blog and photos are gone and only the Hello World there.

    Anyone where I can retrieve my blog and pics?

    Take two deep breaths and relax. Sometimes it takes a couple of three hours for the import to work.

    If it looks like the import crashed or a step got messed up then contact support now: http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ The have access to the back end and can restart the import for you.

    No data is lost – MSN is not deleting anything – your old stuff is safe.

    Also read the sticky posts at the top of the Forum about the transfer, they will give you some more information and help.

    Staff will help ypu with the import. Please note that the following items do *NOT* come over in the import process:

    Photos that were in albums but not within posts
    Photos that weren’t used in posts are not part of the import process because they aren’t actually part of the Windows Live Spaces blog. They are part of the Photos or Skydrive service. The photo albums from Skydrive are always accessible and aren’t going anywhere. Anyone can find them at http://photos.live.com/.

    Pending/draft posts
    Right now, the draft posts are trapped in limbo and WordPress.com Staff are communicating with Live Spaces about them.

    Morning timethief ~~~~~~

    Thanks for adding the extra information,

    I just moved my site onto WordPress.COM after a couple of years as a .ORG site, and even though I set up and moved and mapped a practice site and got the email working with the old servers, the move of my main site was still a bit nerve racking and I had the old site still up and a full FTP backup on my PC. I still worried a bit, then a gallery crashed and content was duplicated and such, delete a 106 picture gallery and bring it in again which then had the sort the mess and add all the captions again. Yes I mumbled a bit and I knew that nothing was lost.

    With the herd of M/S folks showing up, quickly assuring them that their memories are still safe goes a long way to helping keep the panic factor in check.

    Thanks for your help and nice site. Very helpful for blogger’s, Me – mostly I just do boating safety and mumble a bit on another site.

    I have moved my msn space to wordpress for about 2 days,now they are connected ,but lost all my blogs.My msn email is :[removed by moderator],my wordpress is :moer66.Please help me.

    Please re-frame from posting email addresses in the public forum because spam bots will harvest the emails for their dirty work. So I went ahead and removed the email for you.

    @connieliu, contact staff. Nothing is lost. Some migrations get hung up and there are many reasons for this (a hang up on MS’s end, a hang up here or even something in one of our posts that hangs things up. Do know though that staff will get your stuff over here for you and nothing is lost or deleted.
