lost all my followers switched public to private-help?

  made blog private, still shows same no of followers (70+)but all invited and resent also 18 hours later……just shows as waiting, i tested this with my email to subscribe me but Im not getting updates either…something gone badly wrong in swap over please help? also, some regulars havent received invite at all whats going on?
