Lost all social share count numbers when you went to https.

    Hi,

Several of my blog posts had an extremely high level of social engagement, including one with well over 5,000 FB shares. Once you all went from HTTP to HTTPS, I lost literally all these shares. It is as though my share counts started over at zero again and now just reflect how many times the HTTPS (new) URL has been shared on FB.

I have tried tweaking the buttons (to every possible permutation) and this does not help.

Please help. I worked really hard for some of these high numbers and now they are gone. :-(

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I lost literally all these shares.

One, you didn’t lose any shares. Every link that was shared still exists on Facebook. It is only the stats that are gone.

Second, this is a Facebook issue. They provide the sharing number to WordPress.com, and they won’t recognise the http and https address as the same one.

Staff is aware of it and they’re working with Facebook to try and fix it, but it’s Facebook who has to fix it, as this matter is not in WordPress.com’s control. You can see the staff responses in this (closed) thread for more information: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/facebook-shares-on-each-of-my-posts-dramatically-decreasing-is-there-a-prob?replies=64
