lost back-up blog posts – can you help
-
While moving the contents of this blog http://bloggersblurt.wordpress.com I thought I had carefully copied the comments into a MS Word file for back-up purposes. Now I have discovered that file is corrupted when I copied the categories page from my blog into it and I need help. Did any of you make a copy of the text for the last two articles (1) Running Away (from Jesus Freaks) and/or (2) All My Relations. If so will you please email them to me at (email visible only to moderators and staff)

They are both at Bloglines:

Thank you Podz [she said throwing him a big kiss*]. I was so rattled I didn’t even think of that. Also thanks to drmike who suggested subscribing to one’s own blogs was worth considering because I followed that advice.
nosy and sulz this was a planned move. I made the plans some time ago and it was referred to in Cornell’s blog review, remember? I’d give you the link to the blog review if I still had it but I lost all my links too. I recovered what I could from the corrupted file – the pages basically but as I was doing that my computer “bucked and crashed”. The techie [bless him] came to my house and restored my computer to working order early this morning. He warned me never to copy a whole page of WordPress categories into MS Word the way I did again.
sulz and kashmir there are private messages for you on drmike’s unofficial forum please contact britgirl and give her the url to the forum so she can join it because I lost that too.
Please accept my apologies for using this forum in a non-support way.

I have four: two are active; and two are in “stealth” mode. I wanted to completely re-design one and move the contents to another blog which is in stealth mode (it has a name that will better reflect it’s intended use). So I thought I’d load it up bring it out of stealth mode, and delete the first one.
This could have been done with ease if we had the capacity to import and export from one WordPress blog to another to WordPress blog but we don’t [hint – bump feedback previously sent to staff for the “wish list”].
As a result of the copy and paste castrophe I lost the 20 odd posts in the 1 month old blog [no big deal].But I also lost the 107 comments [unfortunate].
I’ve learned a lot of lessons in the past week.
(1) In the blogosphere copywrite could be rendered meaningless.
(2) In the blogosphere defamation can take place with impunity.
(3) Any nutbar can spam you sending you gobs and gobs of hate mail and you will be unable to get yahoo to block that person from doing so, in fact you won’t even be able to get a real live human being at yahoo admin to answer an email sent to them on the subject [the spam came from a hotmail(s) address].
(4) Do subscribe to your own blog feeds and be religious about keeping your own back-ups.
(5) Note that when one uses “more” to split a post and the whole post has been deleted from the then naturally your feeds through places like bloglines and feedblitz can only be used to retrieve the text prior to the “more” [that’s logical, right?].
(6) We humans learn just as well from negative experiences as we do from positive ones, it’s just not as much fun ;) so don’t let your failures get you down put them on your “howl list” and move on.[Sunday, June 25th is the full moon and this little coyote is going to bring out her “howl list” and trigger every *coughing* dog in her neighbourhood, particularly the huskies and malamutes cuz they love to sing back.]

WOAH! [you aren’ kidding] I just had another blogger lift an entire article off my site that was specially written for my site by a guest writer. When I wrote a polite comment on her blog site she edited this part out of the comment:
“I’ve linked to your site and the protocol is that you do the same for me. Also it’s not really cool to take a whole posting from a blog site. Some would call doing that by a bad name. However, what is cool is to block quote some of an article posted and then refer your readers back to where it came from to read the rest of the article, that in this case, Robert Margolis wrote specifically for my blogsite. I’m sure you’ll do that next time, right?
Best regards”Sunday is going to be a howl night extraordinaire, if you know what I mean. [“Of all the *coughing* cheek”, she said with a snarl].

Sorry you’ve had such a crap few days. Let me know the url of your new blog when it’s up an running. It’s not cool to take posts from a blog site.. I think that’s called stealing.
P.S. Will send you my url via email. -
*chuckle* Tell that to the 15 year old I had to deal with yesterday who was streaming full length Family Guy episodes off of his father webspace that I caught yesterday on one of my servers.
People today don’t understand copyright in today’s age. :(

Hey britgirl. Not to worry you are on my list and after all life isn’t about suffering is it? It’s about how you bounce back from your own stupidity as well as unexpected adveristy, and believe me there isn’t anybody or anything on earth that will ever get me down or keep me down for long.:D
drmike – what a *coughing” shame the kid lacks real parents who are up to the job. Lack of parenting skills seems to be a growing cancer in north american society.;)
