Lost blog

My self-hosted website was using the wordpress.com blogging platform, but when I attempted to blog on it again I discovered that it was not accessible. I tried to update the Jetpack plugin, but I could not access anything on the dashboard and instead of updating the plugin my blog was disconnected entirely. Is there a way of retrieving the blog despite it being self-hosted? I am scared that I have lost all the content and am not sure how to go about retrieving it. Can someone help me with this?

Please give us the URLs of the sites you need help with.

Did you connect your self-hosted WP website to WPcom via Jetpack’s Manage module? If so, do you see your self-hosted site in the new Dashboard? https://wordpress.com/sites

After you’ve answered the above, please add a MODLOOK tag to the Tags section of the forum thread sidebar to receive Staff assistance with this issue.

The sites I need help with is http://www.theothersidereviews.com. It isn’t listed on the new dashboard at all. It was, but it was accidentally disconnected and all WP features were lost so I can’t find it at all. Bluehost support are unable to recover any files on their cpanel so I’m not sure what has happened.

I apologize, but following your above explanation, I don’t believe that Staff here will be able to help you with your previously connected WP site.

You’ll need to work with your webhost (as you said bluehost) to find a backup of your site. Further help for self-hosted sites using the standalone WP software can be found over at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page and at https://wordpress.org/support/ If you don’t have a username on the ORG forums, you can register one on that page.

Best wishes for a quick and successful solution.

  • I’m sorry to hear that you are having trouble. However, theothersidereviews.com is a self-hosted WordPress.org blog, which we really can’t help with.

To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

WordPress.org has complete documentation and support sites for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at http://codex.wordpress.org/ and http://wordpress.org/support/ . You can also try talking to your webhost’s support team.
