Lost Domain

    Hi,

While having a play around I accidentally made the URL I wanted (jaqfest.wordpress.com) unavailable. And if I go to that URL it tells me it is reserved. I created it, is there a way I can recover it please? I tried going via the domain recovery but I get told that that isn’t a WP site…

    Thanks,
    Hugo

  • Hi there,

That address is reserved for the username, jaqfest, which you deleted when you changed from that username to jaqfest5.

It is not possible to undo a username change, and it’s not possible to release a reserved domain, so there is now no way you can use that address.

@anotherowner, Happiness Engineers cannot change how things are coded on the site. They’re doing their best to explain that something is not possible.
They do answer a lot of questions (Over hundred+ each day) and try to resolve the issue in the best possible way.

In this particular case, the user has deleted the site despite the warnings which appear before deletion. The only solution is to create a new site because according to the WordPress.com policies, once a username or site is deleted, it becomes reserved and cannot be used again.

Also it is important to note that they’re human and they’re under pressure. They might be having a rough day :)
