lost domain name

    Hello,
    Made a rookie mistake here. I am trying to add another site to my current account with WordPress for another restaurant that we own. I thought all I had to do was add a domain so I added CivilKitchen.com, then I thought I was making that the new domain for my current site and got scared so I canceled it and requested for refund when I saw the add new site. That happened all yesterday, then today while trying to add a new site with the civilkitchen.com domain I found out that I can actually take domains that I have bought and just plug that into the new site tab. However, it says that I cant use that site name because it’s in use.
    How long do I need to wait until that name is available again so I can add it as a new site? or can I undo the refund and keep the domain name so I can just transfer it to create the new site?

    Sorry if this is confusing it’s been a wild 24 hrs

    Hi Al,

    I still see the domain civilkitchen.com on your account, and it’s set as a “secondary domain” on your site at finneganssgf.com. https://wordpress.com/domains/manage/

    If your goal is to use civilkitchen.com for a completely separate site, I have two thoughts on that.

    First, I recommend making sure you want your account info you see here tied to the new site you want to create at civilkitchen.com. (Sometimes business owners end up deciding they’d like a separate account for each business site.)

    Second, if you are ok with the first point, the next thing you will need to do is create a new site on your account by going here: https://wordpress.com/start

    When you create the new site, enter a free WordPress.com URL for the domain (because you already have one, which I’ll get to below); something like “civilkitchen.wordpress.com”. Then choose the plan that best fits your need for the site.

    Lastly, once that’s done, reach out to our Happiness Engineers in live chat tomorrow and let them know you’d like help moving the domain civilkitchen.com over to the new site you created: https://wordpress.com/help/contact

    Thank you so much for your help with this! I’ve done everything that you have said and tomorrow once I get the business plan purchased, I will hit up the help contact to get the domain moved over to the new site!
