Lost draft
-
Hi…I was typing along and had an awesome post and it was autosaving (I saw the dialog show autosave). I went to preview the post and a message came up saying “try again” and when I went back to the editing window everything was gone. So disappointing and I am wondering if there is any way to find what was indicating being saved. Help!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If and only if the post was created on the dashboard of your own blog at Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New then you ought to be able to recover a lost post or page from revisions if needs be.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-revisions/
See also if applicable > restoring from trash http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/#restoring-from-trashBut if the post was created here http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ there is no means of recovery as the auto-save is not functioning there.
Always create your posts on the dashboard of your own blog at
Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New
The auto-save works there and the post will be Standard post format unless you change it.Do not create posts here > http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ where the auto-save is not working and where you are creating an Aside post format.
Use an offline blog editor so you have backups on your own computer http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/

Thanks timethief…I did create it on the dashboard and I tried everything listed. I am usually more careful and physically click the save button myself, but this time I trusted the Autosave.
I have tried to restore from browser, but there is nothing. Lesson learned I guess.
Thanks again,

Oh, that’s so sad to hear. :( It’s happened to me too so I know the feeling. I have become a chronic saver. Type a line click “save draft” and type a line click “save draft” and so on …
