lost draft blog posts

  i have lost draft blog posts that were not saved when updated

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there,

  Have you lost the whole draft or only part of it? What interface are you using? The classic dashboard (https://derekyoudsite.wordpress.com/wp-admin/) or the WordPress.com one (https://wordpress.com/)? Also, can you let us know the titles of those drafts?

  Hi fstat

  I was using the classic dashboard and the post was titled
  A4-project 3 :Artist focus
  In my drafts

  I had made some large changes to the post on the 2nd jan that were not auto saved?
  I can only see 4 smaller ones in the history?

  You have several drafts with titles close to that.

  Typically though we would check revisions for the post to see what we could find there. If I understand, you’re saying you already checked the revisions and did not find the information, right? Even if you scroll back further?

  Can you confirm a few more things?

  – I understand you’re using wp-admin; each dashboard has a classic and new editor now. Do you know which one you were using?

  – How long was the draft open?

  – Is there any chance you had the draft open on more than one device or in multiple tabs?

  2-3 hours

  – Is there any chance you had the draft open on more than one device or in multiple tabs?

  I was working from only my laptop at the time

  As @supernovia mentioned, there are five drafts with a title based around “A4-project 3 :Artist focus”:

  Which one of those were you working on at the time?

  – How long was the draft open?
  2-3 hours

  Is there any chance your laptop went to “sleep” mode while the draft was open?

  Also, did you open the post later on (after closing it) and come back to find the content missing? Or did the content disappear after making a change like adding a link or image?

  The changes occurred when I restarted my laptop the next morning and it had the original 3-4 hour draft. The update button was there so I thought it had been saved so i clicked it.? It then reverted back to a previous version?
  Was this data saved/retrievable or not?

  If so, then the only versions we have of that post are the oner in the revision history here:

  https://derekyoudsite.wordpress.com/wp-admin/revision.php?revision=2849

  If the content you added is not appearing there, then it was never saved to our servers, and we have no way of restoring it from our end.

  So the laptop was switched off/went on standby? If so, it sounds like the last changes were never synced to our servers before that happened.
