LOST EMAIL
-
I am trying to delete the account I made 5 years ago, but I have no idea what email I used to create it. I asked it to reset the password (which I don’t remember), but none of my existing emails received anything in junk or regular. All I want is for this other blog to PLEASE be deleted so it stops showing up every time someone googles my name. I think the username was hmenezes and this is the blog: https://hannahmenezes.wordpress.com/
I have never had any of those ‘proof of ID’ things and I’d also strongly recommend this website getting another method for people to communicate with this it and get help without having to have all sorts of information. If giving me the email is possible, I’ll see if I can access it. Otherwise, please delete it for me. Please help me ASAP. ThanksThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Only the owner of a site can delete it, so you will need to get access to that account before you can do that. We have to verify the ownership of the account before we can give you access, otherwise anyone would be able to take over any account they wanted by just claiming it was theirs. We cannot make any exceptions to this.
The only way to regain access to an account is via the account recovery form, here:
Account RecoveryI also noticed this account you are using is not verified yet. I’ve sent you an email to help with that.

Hello,
Okay. That’s understandable. Is it possible to tell me what the email linked to the account is? If I am still able to use that email (if I remember the password and if it’s not deleted), I should be able to get into it and receive the password sent to it through account recovery. Unfortunately, there is no way through account recovery to retrieve a forgotten email – only to have things sent to it. Even if this wasn’t my account, giving me the email linked to it wouldn’t be giving me access to anything, so that should be okay, right?
I’ll verify this account if you’d like, but I only created it for the sake of this communication.
Thank you,
Hannah

As the email address is the primary method used to verify ownership it’s the one thing I cannot provide under any circumstances. We never provide the email address of any account to someone who isn’t the verified owner.

Oh. Okay. But then how is someone who created their account about 5 years ago and doesn’t remember their email supposed to access it?
-
My best suggestion is to try entering all email addresses you own and still have access to in the password reset form. If you have an account with any email address that will send a reset link to that address.
https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpasswordIf you no longer have access to the email, and you don’t have any of the other forms of verification there is nothing else that we can do in this case.

I asked it to send a password to my email a while ago thinking it wouldn’t be that difficult to access… is it possible to switch the password back to whatever it used to be? I’ll have a better chance at remember that. None of the emails I remember seem to be working.
If i send you a 2011 facebook post where I put a link to my blog, will that be good enough to prove it’s me? -

A password reset link does not cancel the existing password. If you tried a password reset and never clicked the link in the email, your password would never have changed.
A facebook post with a link to your blog is not proof of your ownership, as anyone is able to share a link from your site to Facebook.
The only information you provided to us when you first created your account was your email. You did not at that time give us a phone number, a social security/ID number, or any other type of information, so we can hardly accept any of those as proof that you own the site.
We only accept your email address, or one of the additional forms of verification we provide, i.e. the account activation link, or a transaction ID from an upgrade. If you are unable to provide any of those, there is no way to verify that you are the owner of the site and we won’t give you access to it. We don’t make any exceptions to this policy.

Thanks for understanding the situation. I’ve sent you an email detailing one other option we can try. Please reply to that email that option is acceptable to you.
