Lost followers
-
My follower count has been about 660 but for the past week, it’s registered as 101. It may be affected by the recent Facebook change as I haven’t decided to start a FB Page and have disconnected the FB Publicize. (I usu just post manually as FB always picked a different image for my blog posts.) Is there anyway I can get the numbers back? Appreciate any help or suggestions. It has happened once before but the lost numbers came back after a few days…
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
You’re right, this is due to you Facebook disconnection. As you can see from your Insights page, all your WordPress.com followers are intact while your Social are zero:
https://wordpress.com/stats/insights/
I don’t know if you can get those exact Facebook followers back, but what I know is that people consume content on social media platforms and connecting a Facebook page or/and a Twitter account to your site will for sure increase your followers again.
If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.

Hi fstat, yes, managed to get back some followers back after I reconnect Twitter. Will consider starting a FB page then if that is what is required now. Hopefully I can get those numbers back. Thanks much for your help. Cheers!

Oh goodness this gives me hope, I would really appreciate some help.
I have just migrated from WordPress to Bluehost (told it was easy….now I have grey hair)
I seem to have 2 sites, have lost a lot of comments and all my followers.
Initially, I had a free WordPress site for finntheinfinncible@wordpresscom. Later, through wordpress, I purchased the domain finlaygames.com. This week, I move finlaygames.com over to Bluehost.
Now, I seem to have both the old finntheinfinncible showing as well as finlaygames.com
Even worse, I have lost all my followers!
I would really appreciate some help

Hi Finn –
No worries – we can help you out. Have you already installed the Jetpack plugin on the site? Once you get that set up, we can go ahead and move all of the stats and followers from the old site to the new one.
Running your own WordPress installation does require a much more hands on approach than using any type of managed environment, like what we have on WordPress.com.
Did you happen to see the getting started materials? It’s a lot of reading but really helpful.

Thanks for your reply, good to know it can be solved
Yes, I have a lot to learn!
I do indeed have jet pack installed, will that also move the missing comments over?
The 2 sites thing is odd, from the wordpress dashboard, I can access 2 sites, my domain as Finlaygames.com and my old and original site of (email visible only to moderators and staff). They link to the same site, but when you look closer, you can see that finlaygames has my most recent post and finntheinfinncible doesnt. plus the followers show on finntheinfinncible but not on finlaygames
Hope you can help!

Great! Please confirm the old site address and I can move the stats and followers.
Do you have an address for the additional site as well? Might give us some insight as to what’s going on there too.
As for the comments, they should come through when you exported your WordPress.com site and then import on the new one.
-
Thank you
The old site address is finntheinfinncible.wordpress.com
this is the odd thing, the finntheinfinncible site was my first wordpress site, i then went on to purchase the domain name finlaygames.com through wordpress. It was this site that I then migrated to Bluehost. Now, finntheinfinncible is showing up again as the second site
Im very confused!

I can see that the name servers on finlaygames.com are still pointed to the old site on WordPress.com. This is probably the issue.
Currently, finlaygames.com, point to
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMYou need to update those to point to your new host (BlueHost). Contact them directly for details of their own name servers – then, once that update happens, the domain will point towards your new site.

Thank you, I am just in a web chat with them now. Will you be able to move followers and stats over, or do I need to wait until this issue is resolved first?
-
We’ll need the site to be properly set up and connected to Jetapack before we can transfer stats and followers.
-
Jetpack is set up, I have just had the domain name transferred. Once that takes effect I shall get back in contact
Thank you

Good morning,
My domain is now finally transferred, could you please help me to now migrate my followers and stats over to finlay.games.com, please?

Hi finlaygames,
Thanks, I’ve transferred your followers from finntheinfinncible.wordpress.com to finlaygames.com. WordPress.com followers will only see new posts in the Reader — they will not receive email updates unless they subscribe to receive them on your new site.
Transferring stats will only work perfectly if the post IDs on both sites match. Your post IDs don’t match, which means a single post can end up as two or more different entries on the Stats page. However, the overall site-wide traffic numbers will be the same. Are you still happy to proceed?
