Lost Followers

  I change my blog URL from bibliophageph.wordpress.com to basakaintulog.wordpress.com last night. And today, I just noticed that I lost all my followers when I saw the follower count in my blog. Is this just a temporary phase or should I be alarm?

  As far as I can remember, I have at least 75 followers, aside from the followers through e-mail, before I change my blog name/URL and all of them disappeared several hours after I changed it. Last night, I saw three bloggers who followed my blog and when I checked it now, there’s only one left?! What’s going on?

  Hi there,

  Are you referring to WordPress.com followers or Facebook followers? Please note that Facebook followers cannot be transferred from one site to another.

  Wordpress.com Followers. I even saw that there were 3 followers who followed my blog last night, and earlier I saw that only one was left and now there’s two in the count number. As for the facebook followers, I don’t have much followers in that platform. So I’m quite sure that it is not my facebook or twitter followers.

  Also, can someone from the staff help me on restoring my old URL/blog? It was a mistake for me to change my blog name right away because I cannot do the 301-redirect, when in fact it should be still up within 180 days.

  Thanks, this is a known issue affecting a small number of renamed sites. Our developers are looking into what caused this to happen and hope to have a resolution in the future. I appreciate this is frustrating but we believe posts will be shared with your subscribers even though your follower count is displaying incorrectly.

  Sure, I’ve restored bibliophageph.wordpress.com back to your account and it should be listed under My Sites. If you want to go back to using this address, content will need to be exported from basakaintulog.wordpress.com and imported to the original site.
