Lost my blog??

    I get timed out message with blog that i have been using form months. It shows on the wordpress home page but i can’t access my blog. Help – it won’t open

    It appears that you have a WordPress.com site with us at this address:
    darkhorsegunclub.wordpress.com

    and you have purchased an upgrade for this account on March 28, 2012.

    Upon a bit of investigation on my end, the .com site is working. I also see that you have another site listed as:
    blog.darkhorsegunclub.com/dhgc

    When I try to access this site, I see the trouble you are having.

    It appears that you are having problems with your self-hosted site, there is a difference between WordPress.com sites and WordPress.org sites.

    Thanks for your input. I read but still don’t understand. I have (at least I think I have) been using the .com version of the blog for many months with over 100 posts. I was away for about 3 weeks (no posts) and when I returned I get a “site is temporally out of service” and now I can’t add posts or review. I can see where it still shows the posts but I can’t open. I don’t know what to do. I am not computer smart so will need a lot of help to get this running again. Thanks. Roy

    Jackie – you and I are going around and around and I am getting nowhere. When I try to login at .org and go to “my blogs” it takes me to .com where I see 119 posts in blog.darkhorsegunclub.com/dhgc. When I try to go the the “admin” button all I get is out of service. I can’t get it to stay with .org to log into the blog. site. Like I said, I am getting no where and more and more frustrated. If I can’t get to the Admin page, how am I suppose to make any changes?? You state that I am self-hosted which I believe is through Host Gator if that helps.

    Hello Roy,

    We do seem to be going back and forth quite and bit and I apologize for that!

    Your website blog.darkhorsegunclub.com/dhgc does end in .com and as you mentioned in your previous reply you have hosting with “Hostgator”.

    WordPress.org offers software that can be installed onto your own hosted webpage and domain (blog.darkhorsegunclub.com). This software is installed and used very similarly to WordPress.com however, they offer their own support as they offer features that WordPress.com does not, like adding your own plugins for example.

    I did not mean to confuse you by telling you that you have a .org site and I apologize if I have. I meant that you are using the WordPress.org software to power your site and the troubles that you are experiencing will be solved much faster if you contact Hostgator’s support.
