Lost my domain

Hi there, I recently cancelled the domain since I wanted to switch to wordpress.org. However, when I tried to get the domain name back through wordpress.org it says the domain was taken. I am sure that I have cancelled it first on wordpress.com before I added it on .org. And I really would like to get the domain name back because it has special meanings to me. Please help! And I’m only switching from .com to .org. This is so confusing to me!! Thanks in advance!!

Hi there, as it warns on our domain cancellation support page:
If you notify us within two days of purchase you may cancel a domain name purchased through WordPress.com and receive a full refund. After cancellation, there is no guarantee that the domain will become available to register somewhere else and you may not be able to get it back.
You can keep checking to see if the domain becomes available to re-register.
If you prefer, I try to see if we can get the domain restored to your account. If so, I’ll send you a link where you can repurchase it. Once you have the domain in your account, you’ll be able to update the name servers to point to your new self-hosted site.

Hi Kathryn, thanks so much for your reply. I would love to restore the domain if it can be done. I am new at all this so I really appreciate all the help I can get. I am in love with the domain name so if you are able to get the domain restored to my account, it would mean so much to me. I really appreciate all the help and I look forward to hearing from you. Hi there, the domain actually looks like it’s been released back into the domain pool at this stage, and should be available to re-register through any registrar. Please try registering it through the domain registrar of your choice and let me know how it goes!
