lost my site – have I been phished?

  I went to log into my account and was told I needed to change my password…something like this…

  “We recently discovered your login credentials in a list of compromised emails and passwords published by a group of security researchers. This list was not generated as the result of any exploit on WordPress.com, but rather someone gaining access to the email & password combination you also used on another service”

  …I was sent a link and followed the instructions and was then given access to the site as usual. I updated my version of WP and then as I went to update the plugins I was sent to a page saying there was maintenance happening, since then I have had no access to WP.

  When I put in my email address it says there is no account registered and when I put in my user name and ask to get a new password link sent it does not send one to me.

  Have I been phished?
