Lost my site while authenticating
-
Any advice…? I got my domain through GoDaddy and used it on a WordPress site: clfarmer.com. The new requirements of February 2024 for email subscription providers, like Mailerlite, required me to authenticate my site and corresponding email. I followed the direction for authentication on GoDaddy, but that removed the name servers from WordPress and I lost my site. I now suspect that I should have authenticated my site through WordPress so the name servers were not removed and transferred back to GoDaddy. I don’t have a current backup of my site on a hard drive. Is there any way to recover my WordPress site?

Hi there!
To avoid any confusion, it’s important to distinguish between three different versions of “WordPress”:
- The free, open-source WordPress software that powers your website.
- WordPress.org, the open-source project where you can obtain the software for free to use on your chosen hosting provider.
- WordPress.com, a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software, which is the platform you are currently contacting.
Since your site is not hosted with us, we’re limited in what we can help with and advise. But I can get you pointed in the right direction to get help.
I recommend reaching out to your host GoDaddy for help with this issue. Since they’re hosting your site’s files, they also have access to those files and are the best ones to help you find and fix this problem with your nameservers.
I hope that helps!
