Lost my WordPress.com access to my WordPress.org website

I used my WordPress.org to log on to my WordPress.com account and I would have full access to my WordPress.com accounts. I have always been able to just click on My Site button in the upper left-hand corner of my WordPress.org dashboard and my WordPress.com account would open. Monday morning 4/2, it stopped working, I can’t log in, and I can’t figure out what happened or why? I’m still getting emails from the blogs I follow on the account I can’t access, so it is still there, just don’t know what is wrong and why I can’t see it? I’ve tried password reset, I’ve tried working with Bluehost for the .org side, and I still can’t see my original WordPress.com account it says ‘you have no sites’.
I tried to re-enter it, so now there is an account started in April 2018, but it still doesn’t allow me to see the actual site that I could before this happened and it says I don’t have a site. Is there a real person to talk to or not to fix this??? I feel as though I can’t explain it well in writing??

It sounds like you have disconnected Jetpack http://jetpack.com/support/ but I could be wrong. I will type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for a Staff follow-up. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question

  • Hi there,

I used my WordPress.org to log on to my WordPress.com account and I would have full access to my WordPress.com accounts.

That is impossible. Being logged into a WordPress.com account can give you access to a self-hosted WordPress site, provided the self-hosted site is connected to us via the Jetpack plugin, but it doesn’t work the other way around.

I have always been able to just click on My Site button in the upper left-hand corner of my WordPress.org dashboard and my WordPress.com account would open.

This would be because you were already logged into your WordPress.COM account while viewing your connected self-hosted site.

If that stopped working, it’s likely because something went wrong with the Jetpack connection. However, the account you’re using to post here was created two days ago, and has never owned any WordPress.com sites, nor any Jetpack connected sites.

Can you please provide the addresses of the sites you’re trying to access? Then I can tell you the WordPress.com account you need to log into to access them.

Thank you for the clarification. I do believe there is an issue with Jetpack. The website I have on WordPress.Org is http://www.quaintrevival.com and I was able to be logged into both WordPress.Org at the same time I was logged onto http://www.quaintrevival.com with WordPress.com. It must have been with the Jetpack connection like you said. When I tried to reset my password for quaintrevival site on WordPress.com, I wasn’t able to. And yes, that’s when I tried two days ago and ended up with an account that was started. Now no matter how I try to log on, I’m directed to the new account and I receive the message I have no sites. I do have a JetPack receipt. I’ve reached out for Tech Support from them, with no reply. My goal would be to get back the original connection. What else do you need from me to help?

  • Okay, there does appear to be an error with that site’s Jetpack connection. To fix it you’ll need to log in directly to that site’s WP-Admin dashboard, and then disconnect and reconnect Jetpack:

    https://jetpack.com/support/debug/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.quaintrevival.com

But before you do that you’ll first need to be sure you’re logged into the correct WordPress.com account. If you reconnect Jetpack while logged into this new account, it will make a connection to this account instead.

The account that site is currently connected to has the username, shelleykrupagmailcom. Log out of this account, clear your browser cookies, and then log back in as shelleykrupagmailcom, and you’ll be in the correct account. I only see this one Jetpack site in that account – no WordPress.com sites.

If you’re unable to log in as shelleykrupagmailcom, you can see our account recovery options here:

    Recover Your Account

When I tried to reset my password for quaintrevival site on WordPress.com, I wasn’t able to.

Note the above ONLY applies to the WordPress.com username account, not your site.

You won’t be able to reset the password for http://www.quaintrevival.com on WordPress.com, because that site is not on our servers and we have no control over the login credentials for that site. The site’s login credentials are stored in the site’s database on your server at Bluehost. To reset the password you’d need to follow the process described here:

    https://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password

If you need FTP access to reset the password, you need to contact Bluehost support.

Once you are back into both that site’s dashboard and the correct WordPress.com account, disconnect and reconnect Jetpack, and things should be working again as before.

I do have a JetPack receipt. I’ve reached out for Tech Support from them, with no reply.

That would be because you’re contacting them from the wrong account, so your ticket is being treated as from a non-Jetpack user rather than a paid Jetpack user.

  • I’ve gone ahead and closed the Jetpack ticket you submitted as I’ve given you all the info you need here. Should we need to call in help from Jetpack support again I can reopen it, but for now you won’t get another reply from them, as they’ll just tell you the same thing I did here :)
