  My existing domain name now points to word press instead of my website. Help!

  Hi,

  what domain are you speaking of? There are no sites or subscriptions under your account.

  I am not too knowledgeable in this. The developer built a website apparently using WordPress. The developer quit working with us. We could log into the unfinished website, but now, when we log into the domain name of JIMFOOTEFOUNDATION.ORG, it takes us to a WordPress site. I believe the developer kept ownership/control of the site, and has since changed where it is registered (right term?) to point to an IP address other than ours. The domain was registered at Network Solutions. We own it through 2021.

  I need help to point me to where this change was made, and advice on steps I could take to get back control.

  I realize an option is to just bag it and start over with a new name, but I am not ready yet to do that.

  Gotta love the internet.

  I created an account in WordPress to try to get help. I could not find a way to reach support without having an account.

  To clear up any further confusion, there is WordPress.com and WordPress.org and they are two different entities.

  We, WordPress.com are a cloud-based platform where we manage WordPress sites, whereas WordPress.org is a stand-alone software that you can download and self-host with any other hosting.

  You can find more details about WordPress.com and WordPress.org on this support page:

  Your domain is displaying a WordPress.org site, hosted with another company, not WordPress.com and so we are not able to help with that.
  You will want to point the domain to your servers directly from your registrar’s side – Network Solutions.

  http://wordpress.org/support/ is also a great resource for sites using the open-source WordPress.org software.
