Lost over 1,000 followers after trying to verify site through Pinterest

  Hello,
  I was so happy that my follower count was nearing 1,100…and then I tried to verify my WordPress through Pinterest (which of course did not work), and my followers were diminished to about 800. What happened? I doubt I had about 1,000 spam followers that were suddenly dropped.

  I suddenly feel as though months of hard work has been tossed out! Any clue as to what happened?

  Oops! Just noticed my typo. Not 1,000 followers dropped, but still a substantial amount. Any insight would be great. Thanks!
