Lost paragraph formatting on draft posts
-
Hi
My saved draft posts lose all their paragraphs between reboots; it’s a problem I’ve had for some time & is very annoying! What would be causing this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Do you copy and paste your post text from any other application, such as Word?
Do you typically compose your posts here:
http://wordpress.com/post/Or here:
https://whiskeyforaftershave.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.phpOr from a mobile app or Windows Live Writer, etc.?
More details about how you typically post would help me figure out what might be happening. :)

Hi Eurello
No, I type directly into WordPress
I post here: https://whiskeyforaftershave.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php, from my desktop PC.
The problem only arises with draft posts; when I reboot they often have no paragraphs.

Next time that happens, can you please try clicking to the Text editor and then back to the Visual editor and see if the paragraph breaks are restored:
EditorsI’ve noticed this happens to me occasionally and if I click to Text and click back, the spacing clears up. Let me know if that fixes it for you. If it doesn’t, can you please link me to a draft post with the spacing gone so I can take a look?

Tried that thanks; it didn’t work. Here’s a link to a draft post: can you view it though? http://whiskeyforaftershave.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=9052&action=edit
Here’s the preview http://whiskeyforaftershave.wordpress.com/?p=9052&preview=true

Hi there,
Hmm. I notice a number of span styles in your HTML. Do you move text around in your post by selecting it and dragging it? Chrome does this weird thing where it inserts span styles when you do that, and it’s possible that’s also messing up your line breaks. Instead, if you need to move text, cut and paste it, rather than select and drag.

Thanks. I do edit a lot but I use cut & paste, I didn’t even l know you could do that! Also, I don’t know what a span style is

If you look in the Text editor at the HTML of your post, you’ll see them. They look like this:
<span style="line-height: 1.5em;"></span>I’m not sure how those are getting in there if you are not copying and pasting text from elsewhere or selecting and dragging text. Can you think of anything else you do when you compose or edit your posts other than just type directly into the Visual editor?
-
Not offhand, but I’ll keep that in mind as I write. The paragraphs only disappear after a reboot: might that be significant?
-
Well, sort of. If you have HTML in your Text editor, sometimes it doesn’t really ‘take’ until a draft is saved.
A screenshot of what things look like in your Text and Visual editors before and then after this happens might help me figure it out. Here are instructions for how to make a screenshot: http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/
You can upload it to your blog’s Media Library and I can look at it there.

I was putting the paragraphs back on that post today & span style: line height html was somehow automatically added to the last 2 paragraphs. Might it be a bug in the theme?
In the meantime I’ll be very vigilant in exactly what I do that might cause this
Thanks

That’s so odd. I don’t know what would cause it to be added. This wouldn’t have anything to do with your theme.
Do you use any browser extensions with Chrome?
Does this happen in an alternate browser, such as Firefox?

I don’t think any of those are causing this. I’m not familiar with The Great Suspender, so you might try disabling that one temporarily just to check.
