Lost password account activation details
-
The website was was originally set up through Telstra web hosting service – we have now closed Telstra service and no longer paying for domaine name ie tarafoxpsychology.com.au and Tara is now working at another location so the details on the old website are inaccurate- but the old WordPress still exists – we really want to take it down but as it was all through Telstra??
Any way to close account??WP.com: Yes
Correct account: Unknown -
Hi there, are you referring to the free WordPress.com website at tarafoxpsychology.wordpress.com? If so, you need to be logged in with the correct account to delete the site.
There are a couple of things you or Tara can try:
If you don’t remember the correct username or the email address and you had email notifications of new comments or feedback on your site, you could try leaving a comment or filling out a contact form on that site and then checking all the active email accounts to see where the email notification goes.
Once you’ve established the correct email account, and making sure you are not logged in to WordPress.com by logging out of this account at https://wordpress.com/me (click on the Log Out button on the left side) and then visit the Log In page at https://wordpress.com/log-in you can then either reset the password by clicking on the Lost Password link there or send yourself an email with a one-time log-in link by clicking on the “Email me a login link”.
Barring that, you’ll need to recover your account following the support guide at https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/
Let us know how that goes.
Once you recover the account, you can follow this guide to deleting the website https://wordpress.com/support/delete-site/

That helped find the email that the contact was directed to but unfortunately – because it was set up through telstra – it does not seem to register this as a username. I have tried every iteration from records but seems to be unlinked – once we stopped paying telstra to host the website and domain – they seem to have used wordpress to set up the website and when we changed everything seemed to go through them – ie the website I setup was “tarafoxpsychology.com.au” – somehow “tarafoxpsychology.wordpress.com” has been created and we dont seem to have any way to access – as it was telstra that created – Hence I dont have any of the neccessary details for account recovery ie activation key etc
Would be very happy for whole site to come down
Thanks

Hello again, your free website tarafoxpsychology.wordpress.com is hosted here on WordPress.com and not with Telstra.
That helped find the email that the contact was directed to
If you have access to that email address, use it to reset the password or send yourself a one-time log in link.
If you don’t have access to that email address to perform the above, you’ll have to go the Account Recovery route.
WordPress.com has a strict policy in place to protect users from third parties who might try to use the support system to gain access to other users’ accounts.

Just adding that if the contact form submission was set up to be sent to a different email address than the site owner’s account email, then you won’t have the correct email address for password reset/login or for account recovery.
I’ve gone ahead and flagged this thread for Staff attention and input. Thanks for your patience.

Hello there,
I can’t see tarafoxpsychology.wordpress.com connected to this site.
Do you have access to the email address connected to this WordPress.com account, or the individual who may have managed this account?
This will help you to determine next steps.

its been a few years since it was originally set up.
I believe it was set up through telstra- we paid for it to be set up. We have now cancelled our telstra domain and webhosting.
The email address that has been used for some time is now (email visible only to moderators and staff) but at the time may have been (email visible only to moderators and staff) or (email visible only to moderators and staff)As I said – It was difficult as everything was done through telstra at the time
Thanks
