Lost Password And Associated E-Mail Address – Help

  • Unknown's avatar

I had a WordPress.com blog from 2007 to 2009 and I decided to make it private at one point. I also, apparently, without realizing it deleted the Yahoo! e-mail address associated with it. As a result, I can’t reset my password since the e-mail address no longer exists.

I have tried every password combination I can think of to no avail. Is it hopeless? I’m actually lucky I was even able to remember my username as it has taken me several years of fruitless brain wracking.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, the blog I need help with is: thisisnowhere.wordpress.com

  • Hi there – We’ve got some very specific ways to prove ownership of a site. Those are detailed here: https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/#account-recovery-form

There’s not any wiggle room around those options there, so hopefully something in that short list can help you regain access and pick up where you left off.

I created the blog in 2007. None of the three factors you want even existed back then. There has to be some other way. Please assist. This has been going on for years.

I guess you are lucky in as much as the site has been safely set to private. There are hundreds if not thousands of people with ancient sites created by their younger selves that will remain visible on the Interweb for years to come all because they didn’t write their passwords down and store them in a safe place.
Anyone else reading this… make sure your email details are updated on your WordPress.com account if they change, just as you would do to keep access to any internet banking or utilities account.
