Lost Post
-
I spent ages writing a post last night, which I posted and saw on my computer. My husband looked at it on his computer and it was there, but this morning it has gone completely. What can I do to get it back? I spent ages writing it. Does this often happen?

Try google. They sometimes have a cache of published posts. Put in as many words from the title as you remember like this:
titleword othertitleword otherothertitleword site:wordpress.com
Also, can you find it under Manage? What’s the URL of your blog and the title of the post? Maybe we can see it.

http://adifferentvoice.wordpress.com/2008/02/15/savage-messiah/
that is the link – the content is gone.

When you say “on the computer” do you mean that you published it, and saw it on your blog like anyone else would? Or did you hit publish and – unfortunately, because it happens a lot – POOF?
-
No, I mean I published it, then saw it, then my husband looked at it on his computer. I know it was published and visible as Google has collected bits of it, but I cannot access the whole thing in the Google cache. I had no idea this could happen … and will now save everything in a Word file to back up. Is it worth contacting WordPress when their service desk is open?
-
Yes. I’m not sure they’ll be able to help, but they at least should get working on preventing this in the future.
I don’t recommend Word. For one thing, the files are huge relative to other files. For another, an offline blog editor just has way more functionality. Try something like Blogdesk or Ecto and see if you don’t like it better. That way you can post and save a backup at the same time.
