Lost Posts
-
I’m attempting to migrate my blog to wordpress.org on a different host. Last night I attempted to post a note that I might be temporarily down. It appeared to post BUT it had the url of the post before it. Then when I went into my home site, it wasn’t there. I shrugged off and just reposted. Not a big deal.
I’ve posted a few posts since then. No problem. Then I posted one, took the url and posted it to my Facebook. After a bit I was told, the link wasn’t working. I went back to my blog and the post was gone. It wasn’t in my drafts. It was just gone. I went back to my computer history and I show that that post existed at one time but now it doesn’t. Help? I have recently changed to a new theme, Twenty Twelve to make migration easier. A few days ago I purchased WordPress Premium.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That is the replacement for the first missing post. The original one disappeared. There is also another missing post.

Provided you did not create the post in the new Beep Beep Boop editor where it’s saved only on your browser, and is not auto-saved to the servers for your blog you may be able to recover a lost post or page.
If the post was created on the dashboard of your own blog at Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New then you ought to be able to recover a lost post or page from revisions if needs be.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-revisions/See also if applicable > restoring from trash http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/#restoring-from-trash
To locate draft POSTS Dashboard > Posts > All Post > Drafts
http://kymkemp.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_status=draft&post_type=postTo locate draft PAGES Dashboard > Pages> All Pages > Drafts
http://kymkemp.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_status=draft&post_type=page(If you are referring to a Page then see here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-revisions/)
If you cannot locate a revision or restore from Trash then the content has been lost and cannot be recovered.
I recommend:
1. Always create your posts on the dashboard of your own blog at
2. Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New
3. Immediately after creating a post and entering a title click the save draft link. Thereafter, “click save draft” frequently.
4. Always allow pages to fully load before clicking any other links.
5. Never leave a post or page open for content creation or editing and walk away from it, or open another tab in the same blog and work on something else while it is still open. Save it properly and return to edit it later.
6. Use an offline blog editor so you have backups on your own computer http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/ -
Thank you. I’m not so much worried about the missing post. But I am worried that things keep disappearing–especially after they’ve been posted and have an url.
A friend just took a screenshot of attempting to access my blog and it gives one of those standard “Oh this is embarrassing. We’re not able to find what you are looking for” pages. My page is back up now but why is it going down? And why are posts disappearing?

Wait. I was wrong. It isn’t my whole site that was down. It was just a post that had been deleted. I apologize. So only worried about why posts are disappearing.

Please read the sentence I posted above carefully.

If you did not create the posts here Dashboard > Posts > Add New http://kymkemp.com/wp-admin/post-new.php that may explain what happened.
