Lost things on sidebar update
-
I recently update my sidebar and when I did I lost something very useful. Prior to this update I had something in the sidebar that said “login”, where I could login from the main page. I don’t remember whether I created that from a widget or a separate page somehow. Can someone help me get this “log in” thing back on the sidebar of my main page?? Oh, and I also lost the “about flo” page I had on the main page where a visitor could read up on my life. How do I correct these two things???
Thank you for your help.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Oh, just remembered, I also had something in the sidebar called “words to live by” that is also gone since my update. So I’m hoping someone can help me get the “about flo”, the “login”, and the Words to “live by” back on the sidebar. Ame not sure if I had all this under one heading on in widgets. Guess figuring that out is what I need help with. Hope someone can help me.

Did you change from a theme with multiple sidebars to a single sidebar? If so that stuff might have to be recreated. Text widgets do not retain their information so even adding them back in, they will be blank.

You might try temporarily switching back to the other theme and see if the other widgets are still there. If so, copy out the contents (appearances > widgets) and paste it into a plain text file. Then switch to the new theme and add in new text widgets and transfer the information into them.

No, I didn’t change the main theme, I just added a widget for listing past articles.
Update…….
I got the Meta widget added and yes the “log in” and “log out” reappeared.
Now I need to work on the “about flo” best described as a short article I guess. Also there was “words to live by” that I need to get back on the side bar. Should I just recreate them?? Oh boy, the “about flo” thing might be hard to recreate, I’m not so good at talking about myself.

The thing is, if this is the first time you have added widgets, what you were seeing before was a sample display of widgets so that you would be able to see what it would look like. Once you add a widget, the sample set disappears. All you have to do is add in the other widgets that you want in the sidebar and drag them into the arrangement that you want. On the about flo thing, you are going to have to recreate that yourself using a text widget as the “about flo” widget is only part of the sample display and not an actual widget.
This support document talks about using the text widget if you are not familiar with them: http://support.wordpress.com/widgets/text-widget/

Thanks much!! Yes, this was the first update of adding other widgets after initially setting up the sidebar. So now I understand a little better. Thanks so much and yes I will read that article. Thank you for all the help!!!!!!!
