Lost website

  I have bought a website already set up transfixed the domain to another hosting company but the website is no longer showing when I click on the normal link. The new hosting company say they can transfer it from our previous host but the previous website owners no longer have access what can I do

  It sounds like there’s some scope for the set up to be simplified here.

  Currently, it looks like the site is being hosted with Siteground. Can you tell me if you’re able to access the site via https://giftcreated.com/wp-admin?

  Also do you have access to underlining Siteground account?

  Depending on the above, we could look to walk you through migrating the site to WordPress.com – which may be more organised in the long run.

  To note, if that’s of interest, the site would need to be on the business plan at WordPress.com:

  Hi Thankyou for your reply. I don’t know whether I see it as a little more complicated. I can’t access the site through https://giftcreated.com/wp-admin . I do have access to SiteGround but after transferring the domain to site ground and pointing the domain, was nt able to access the site on line and found that the back up was only for a default wordpress so didn’t have any content for the website. I do have a back up file made by the previous owner but not details of the previous host. I had previously changed some details on wordpress ie: username and password and When I log into wordpress it does not recognise the site. so can’t reset wordpress. Not sure what can be done

  Ahh that’s tough. To clarify:

  I do have a back up file made by the previous owner but not details of the previous host. 

  What kind of backup file is that? Will you be wanting to host it here with us, or will you be installing it with SiteGround? You should be able to regain access to the installation in one way or another. Your host can help.

  If you’ll be hosting here with us, let us know what kind of file you have currently for the real backup and we’ll check to see what we can do. And, here’s a summary of the difference between our site and the free software, or you can read in-depth info here.
