Lost writing!
-
I worked on a draft for 2 hours, and usually the work automatically saves but this one didn’t for some reason. The title was called 2+ Years Looking Back Looking Ahead. I typically write a new post in the “My blog” section but his time i wrote a new post in the “New Post” section went to add a Photo and the content I was writing was gone 2 hours of writing gone! how how do i get it back? When i tried to refresh and go back all was lost…

I wonder if the New Post tab is the cause of all these problems we’ve been hearing about.
Is any of it still visible under Revisions?
-
I can’t seem to find the revisions section @raincoaster. I’m a mess, really pours my all on into this post after not writing for almost 6 months. Pretty upsetting. :-(

I’ll flag this for staff attention. Maybe they can help you and maybe if they can’t, they can at least pin it down to the New Post button on the admin bar. Lots of people are reporting this sort of thing.
-
Yes, it does appear to be gone unfortunately.
Just to be sure, were you writing it from http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ ?

@cathydinas: As raincoaaster said, lots of users have been reporting this. Better avoid using drafts: when you start a new post, write a couple of lines, set the visibility to private, publish the post, continue editing and updating, turn to public when finished.

Help! I just lost a blog the same way. Titled “How I Became A Pokemom” It was one of those that took a lot to write. Maybe it will mysteriously reappear. Cathydinas any tips on how you “found” yours?

If the post is listed in Posts > All Posts, edit it and check the Revisions module for a previous saved version.
If you’re not seeing the Revisions module while on the post editor screen, click Screen Options (top right) to activate it. -
I am not so lucky…. i can’t find mine! my browser crashed and when I got back, there was no sign of the post i was working on at all! No revision module nothing :(

@meishanny — try to go in your trash bin and and retrieve anything from in there. that’s where I found mine

@meishanny
Hi there,
You may be able to recover an earlier Post Revision. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-revisions/ Go to Posts > All Posts, hover over the title of the post, click Edit and check the Post Revisions module for previous saved versions of the post.If you’re not seeing the Revisions module while on the editor screen, click Screen Options (top right corner of your Admin page) http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/ to activate it. Then select the post and page modules to include them. http://en.support.wordpress.com/modules/#list-of-modules Then you ought to be able to go here > Dashboard > All Posts > Posts and locate the post and recover it from post revisions.
If you cannot locate the post by using the instructions I provided for locating and restoring a post revision, and it’s not in your Trash folder http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/ then you will not be able to recover it. http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/#restoring-from-trash
Advice:
When you start a new post, add the title, set it to private and then publish it. When you are done with the post, set it back to publish and update it. The problem with posts disappearing when saved as a draft has been around for a while, but only seems to hit a small number of people randomly. The other choice is to get and use an offline blog client such as Windows Live Writer (Windows) or Ecto (Mac) and then everything is saved on your computer and when you are done with the post, you actually publish it directly from the blog client software. See here for offline blog editors so you don’t have to go through this again http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/

That’s too bad. Use an offline blog client such as Windows Live Writer (Windows) or Ecto (Mac) from here on in.

@timethief anyway that was directed to @cathydinas because you and i posted at the same time..
