Lots of Backlinks From Blog Post? A problem For Google?

    Hi
    i recently posted a couple of comments on wordpress.com blogs related to my website http://www.lightmandalas.co.uk

    From these few posts, when i check with site explorer they have created lots of links back to my site, maybe even hundreds, very quickly and in a short time span. I have recently noticed a fall in my google search ranking, i don’t know if this could be connected.

    Have they been created becasue i am in the blog roll?
    My worry is that such a sudden increase in lnks all from the same blog sources may appear suspicious to google.
    Is this a normal occurance when posting on some blogs?

    unfortunately yes ! high number of links in short time span is seen as spam by google , but that also depends on you linking nature , if those links have different anchor text then it would look like normal link building and you wont be penalized for it . just keep adding fresh content and overtime you`ll recover from it

    Based on what I’ve seen recently: if you go around posting comments with carefully chosen keywords as link anchor text, you’re toast.

    You know, this is just my opinion, but I manage the back end on a number of wordpress blogs for clients, and few of them send me two or three “great new SEO magic tricks” per week it seems, and want me to implement them. I’ve always been reluctant to do so since few of them are backed up by actual long-term (or even short term) data on the supposed benefits, and in most cases I can see they will likely cause issues in the long run. Over the past few months with Google rearranging their deck chairs, I’ve told all my clients to lay off snorting the magic SEO powder and go back to the basics: good, well written articles, with relevant and well chosen tags/categories (and not too many), and with the major tags included in the body of the post, and relevant, descriptive titles for the posts.

    Most everyone I know who has been snorting the magic SEO powder has lost page rank over the past couple months, while everyone I know that continue to concentrated on the basics has not.
