Lots of Problems – Links, Paragraphs, Error Messages, Comments…

I had the very same problem OP described (and was in a similar mood). After switching from Safari to Firefox the problem didn’t exist any more.

MS Word has problems with wordpress that you should be aware of if you copy and paste from it into the wordpress editor. There are known issues when trying to paste text from MS Word. If you are using the rich text editor then there is a special icon on the advanced tool bar which when clicked brings up a window where you can paste the text from Word and then insert it into your post. MS Word adds a bunch of extra code that can cause problems, and using this function in the rich text editor will clean things up and paste it as plain text.
Alternately you can paste the text from word into a text editor such as Notepad or Textedit (mac) first and then copy that text and paste it into your post.

I’ve just started using Flock as my default browser on my iMac (but there is a Windows version), which has a built-in blog editor. This has no problems posting to WordPress.com blogs, and includes all line breaks, links, etc without issue (at least as far as I can tell in the week or so I’ve been using it). Might be a good solution for anyone having issues like the ones discussed here.
