Lots of traffic but not showing up on stats
-
Hi,
I’m the webmaster for http://www.bcss.org which I recently redesigned using wordpress as the platform. There are some static files, but other than that 100% of the site is in wordpress now, which I’m using as a CMS. It’s hosted on our own webhost, not wordpress.com. I set up the wordpress.com stats plugin, and have used the correct api key. My awstats report from my webhost is showing lots of traffic and 3500 hits per month on average. I wanted to have blog specific stats too for comparison, in case awstats wasn’t up to tracking generated pages, also I wanted something I could give the director of developmnent access without giving too much access. However, I’ve got zero hits showing in the stats app on my global dashboard. It does show some incoming blog links that seem to be valid though. At first I thought it was because it hadn’t been set up for very long, but it’s been a couple of weeks and still zero hits, which can’t be right. To test, I logged out of a workstation and visited a few pages. Still no hits showng up. Did I misunderstand something? Is it not possible to track stats using this app if you’re not on wordpress.com? Any ideas where I cam start to get my lovely marketing folks some stats?
I notice lots of ‘I have no stats showing up’ posts on the board so I’m wondering if something is down?

Best bet would be to use the ‘support’ tab in these forums and ask Staff directly on this issue. That or an email to support at wordpress.com because they are the only ones that can answer this one for you.

As pointed out by a smart person I talk to, it most likely is that you are not called wp_footer() in your theme as that has to be there for the stats plugin to work. Not all themes manage to call that in their footer for some reason or another.
