    Hello. I am having an issue with my WP site. It is not a business, it is personal blogging. I have tried to find what I’m looking for on Google to no avail. I am currently running on a throttled hot-spot, and WP is making my computer unusable as I use it for WP. It takes at least three minutes to load a page, and there’s a time-out almost every time. I cannot read other people’s blogs, I cannot use the reader, I can’t even create new posts without attempting the same thing multiple times. It works OK on my phone despite that being my hot-spot and also being throttled. Is there a version of the web-based WP that is less bloated and that will work properly? If even try to run another webpage while a WP page is open, it will not load. I have to close all WP pages just to open the Google homepage. It has truly become unusable and I would like to continue to use WP. Is there another web address (as Gmail has) that will just allow me to do the basics without such a problem? Thank you.

    Hi there!

    I’d like to get a better understanding about the connection you have to the internet and the quality of that connection.

    Could you let us know the general region of the world you are located in?

    Also, could you visit this site – https://www.speedtest.net/ – perform a speed test, then report the three results back to us: ping time, upload speed, and download speed?

    Hello. Thank you for replying to me. I am in the USA.

    I do not have internet, and I am using my cell-phone as a hot-spot to gain access to Word Press. Unfortunately, although I have unlimited data, it gets throttled and runs very slowly after a certain amount of data has been used.

    I have visited the site that you recommended. The first two times, it timed out. On the third try it said “DOWNLOAD TEST ERROR A socket error occurred during the download test. A firewall could be blocking the connection or the server might be having some issues. Please try again later.” I turned off the firewalls on my computer and ran it again.
    Ping ms = 26
    Download Mbps = 0.00
    Upload Mbps = 0.12

    Even getting to this comment on the thread required three tries. Please tell me that there is a more stripped version of WordPress that I can use at least when I am throttled like this.

    Hi there!

    Thanks for sharing the additional information. Since the speedtest was timing out for you, and also based on the result, it seems your connection speed was really slow. Is it already throttled like you said it would be after a certain amount of data has been used?

    In any case, the slow speed you get explains the issue you’re having with loading WordPress.com on your computer. We don’t have a more stripped version of WordPress.com, but you can try the following to use a third-party app (or email) to publish on your WordPress.com site.

    * Post by Email
    * WordPress.com Add-On for Google Docs
    * Publish and Update WordPress Posts Directly From Ulysses

    Just a side note, these will be helpful for publishing posts on your site. Any customizations you want to do on your site, you have to do them directly so you may want to try and see if you can get a different connection (or contact your internet service provider as your connection seems already throttled).

    Yes, I am already throttled. That is why I was asking as it has become incredibly hard to use WP.
