Low quality featured image – Organizer theme by Automatic
-
I’ve tried several featured image sizes and no matter the size, the image ends up blurry and low res. The images within the blog posts turn out great and the quality expected but I just can’t get any image to show clearly on the featured image.
I’d really appreciate some help if anyone knows how to fix this issue, thanks.

Hi there!
My name is Edward, and I’m a Happiness Engineer with WordPress.com. I saw that you’re having some trouble where full-width featured images are blurry when you view a post.
This is related to an known issue in WordPress where full-width featured images are forced to have a horizontal resolution of 1024 px. I have a few different possible solutions to suggest. Could you give these a try, and let me know what works for you? Let’s try one at a time and then check to see what’s different, so that way we know which one did the trick for you.
- Go to Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS and then scroll down to “Media Width.” Try setting the “Media Width” setting to 1700 px.
- Go to Appearance > Editor, then click on Templates, then Single Posts. Click on the Featured Image Block, then click on the half-moon icon in the settings on the right. Then, click on Aspect Ratio, and choose an aspect ratio other than Original. Finally, under “Scale,” choose the “Contain” option.
- Try uploading your featured images with width 1024 px and in webp format, so that they do not have to be converted by the website.
- If all of the above fail, you can remove the Featured Image Block from the Single Posts template, and then add an Image or Cover Block to the top of each post, which will allow you greater control over the image’s display resolution.
If you have any questions about these instructions, please let me know!
