<Br>Break Tags not working

  • Unknown's avatar

The last few times I posted to my blog, the break tag function has not been working. Is this specific to my MAC?

There is a known issue with using the “visual” editor and safari. If you use the “code” tab or turn off the visual editor in your Profile in your blog dashboard, you should be ok. Many use Firefox to be able to use the visual editor (including me)

Make sure you are using the correct format as well!

    <br />

Are you using Safari? Are you using the visual editor or have you disabled it? In the code editor, try using this between paragraphs in the code editor. <p>&nbsp;</p>

Yeah, I have noticed that this is really not working. It LOOKS like it is working but its not at all consistent. You enter it into the editor and you can see it but then when you go back into the editor it’s gone!

The same seems to happen to setting the bordercolor of a table too!

    Are you using Safari?

  • Unknown's avatar

    No, Windows with IE7.

  • Unknown's avatar

It used to be that the editor problems were only in Safari, but there are more and more people using IE7 and Firefox on Windows that are seeing the problem as well. I’m at a loss except to suggest using <p>&nbsp;</p> on a separate line between paragraphs. The <br /> doesn’t seem to work all the time and sometimes gets stripped out. I’ve never had the first one stripped out though.

I will try again but I think the first one is also being removed.

  • Unknown's avatar

Nope, gets removed. Its there when you save and look at the page but as soon as you go back into the editor it is gone.

  • Unknown's avatar

Well, I would send this into support with all the details. Temporarily go to users > your profile and deselect “use visual rich text editor and see if it will keep the line breaks using the nbsp code I listed above. You can also try the br code as well.

this word press thingy is kinda stupid…

I cant leave a line break in between sentences no matter how i tried!…
And there’s no support no one i can email to… I think i am going back to blogspot…

  • Unknown's avatar

There is support, it’s just not open for another six hours.

We can’t help you if you don’t give us a link so we can look at your blog. Did you try the suggestions in this thread?

  • Unknown's avatar

    And what have you tried?

  • Unknown's avatar

Thanks for reply but then why should i like have to do certain things to be able to leave a line break in between sentences after sentences or paragraphs?

I don’t have to do this in blogspot or livejournal… and i have to insert things like <br> to get the line break in between? Abit of wasting time here right?

The above show a line break after each paragraph. Below shows something that i kept having in wordpress. Its too congested for the eyes to read if you know what i mean.

I think you should go back ILOVECHRIS to wherever you came from. Blogspot’s not for me, maybe WordPress is not for you too.. lol
