luke.___.wordpress.com as referer, what does that mean ?

    Hi,

The French forum sent me here to ask my question again.
For a few days, I see “luke.assas.wordpress.com” as referer, as my blog is just “assas.wordpress.com”. If I click on the link with “luke”, I see my blog and I can admin it.

I found that a “lukeassas.wordpress.com” exists. But without “.” after “luke”. And it’s really another blog.

    So what happens ?

    Thanks for your help.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello! It’s possible that someone mistyped your URL in their browser and then clicked on something on the site that loaded (which is actually yours). We’d see it as a ‘referrer’ since the URL doesn’t technically match your own.

Hope this helps clarify what happened here. Let me know if you have questions!

    Hi,

Yes, you’re right, maybe it occurred as you say.
But the question is : why the URL “luke.assas.wordpress.com” exists, works and gives access to the blog “assas.wordpress.com” ?

I tried to add “luke” to others blog.worpress.com URL and it works too.

One of the other staff said it was a “feature” in the way the address system works – same base blog but when someone adds extra stuff to the address it still goes to the base blog – – yes real strange and confusing and I had to ask a couple of times about the URL that did not look like is should have worked
