  I want to upload an m4a audio file from the voice recorder on my phone. WordPress tells me this is not possible. Is there a way I can load this type of audio file?

  Hi there,

  I was able to upload a test m4a file on your site, and can confirm that it should be able to accept this file type without issue. However it can sometimes be the case that the file is not able to be uploaded due to how it is encoded at the time of creation (or editing, if you have made changes in an audio editing app.)

  As a test, can you re-encode your voice recorder files using an m4a converter. We used this one with good success:

  You may also wish to see if your voice recorder has the option to save in a different format like mp3, which is a bit more “web-friendy” of a format, and less error prone. It may also be possible to experiment with the m4a preferences on your recorder to see if it will help in producing files that your WordPress site is able to accept.
