Mac users complaining about images
-
I’ve got mac users telling me they can’t see images or they are too big on one of my blogs. Any ideas?
-
can you find out which images/posts they’re having trouble with? I just took a quick look at your blog and didn’t see anything that was a problem (i’m using Firefox 2.0.0.7 on Mac OS X 10.4.10).
Your images take a little while to load due to the file size and my current connection speed, but they display properly.

Everything on environmentdebate looks fine to me – Mac OS 10.4.8 using both Firefox 2.0.0.7 and Safari 2.0.4
Or is it a different blog that has the problem?

They only way those users might be complaining is they might have an old cache of your page or they haven’t updated to the recent version of safari (or firefox). Just ask them to check those things and you should be off to the races!

Sorry … I do have several blogs. The one complained about is http://www.theladderopenspace.wordpress.com
I upload my own images sometimes which are large files admittedly but, I don’t have a problem with these. Not sure why mac users in particular do.
Thank you for your help …

Your main page loads VERY slowly and I have a fast connection (5mb). I just looked at it again with FF and also Safari, and all the images (as far as I know) load and look normal. I even looked with my old Mac laptop which has whatever version of Safari came with OSX 10.2.
Just a suggestion: I would downsize your images some. The front page I estimate has over 6mb worth. The image on your second page is 2.4mb by itself.
Other than that, I’m at a loss. From my end, everything come up fine although slowly due to the size of the images.
[edit: I always think of those people who have dial-up (still a large number of them out there) when I put images on my site and try and keep them down around 75k or less. Again, just a suggestion.

I have lots of pics on my blogs and people used to have a lot of problems loading my pages. Someone suggested to show fewer posts on a page, and that really helped. With 5 posts per page, your blog loads faster.
Options / reading / Blog pages /show at most / 5
Also, instead of uploading my pics to wordpress.com, I upload them to flickr, and show them on wordpress.

I’m running Mac OS X 10.4.10, newest stable version of Safari/Camino/FF is working fine.

Thank you all. Much appreciated. I’ll try the max 5 posts idea and when I figure out how to downsize images, that too. :)

I’d definitely go with downsizing the images. I had no problems viewing your second blog either, but even with fast broadband, those images are very slow to load.
