Made a complete mess of trying to fix
-
Hi there,
I was trying to fix the site coffeeshopcynic.com, as I was unable to see it in my dashboard (just got the white screen of death), but now it seems that I’ve made a complete’s pig’s ear of it in my attempts to fix it.
Here’s what the site SHOULD look like (from the Wayback Machine) https://web.archive.org/web/20210117101546/https://coffeeshopcynic.com/blog/If someone can help me recover this site, it would be much appreciated!!!! I’ve also already sent in a support request, but I’m a bit panicked.
Thank you!

Hello, I’m sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your website. However, your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted elsewhere.
Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. You can find more information here about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
https://wordpress.org/support/ is a great resource for sites using the open source WordPress.org software, and you can find support for that at: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
Your hosting provider’s support team may also be able to assist.

As of earlier today this site was hosted on WordPress.com, not .org as far as I’m aware. I never signed up for an account there.
The domain was through Namecheap, but all the posts/content were on WordPress.com. -
I’m doubly certain of this as I don’t have an account at WordPress.org to login and use the support forum.

I think we’ll need to take a step back to try to understand what you were trying to accomplish, and, most importantly, what you changed about your domain (if anything).
I want to focus on the domain first. I looked up the history of the domain “coffeeshopcynic.com” and its DNS settings. Is there a chance you changed the DNS settings on the domain to point it to our servers here at WordPress.com?
If so, can you tell us more about what you changed about the DNS, when, and why? We’re curious about this possibility and what we can learn from you with the answer.
You mentioned the domain is with Namecheap. Do you know if you were, or are, paying them for “WordPress hosting” in addition to the domain fee?
Looking forward to your reply so we can help you get this sorted out. :)
