Magazine Template Recommendation?

  Hi

  I’m looking for a searchable news & features magazine template/theme that also has a listings directory – which can be split into categories. I’d also like tagging functionality and the ability to capture emails.

  Initially it needs to be simple but also have the possibility of adding additional features such as ads, restricted areas that can only be accessed by permission-based log-in and the ability to sell certain content.

  I’m new to WordPress but have some website building and coding experience.

  Anything suggestions that fit or come close are very much appreciated – even if that means I may need to hire coding help for some basics.

  Could you please just clarify if you intend to use self-hosted WordPress or WordPress.com? Please note the difference here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  I’m going to be writing this under the assumption you’re planning to use self-hosted WordPress.

  There is an area for adverts on all themes, as WordPress.com will display adverts on your websites unless you purchase a paid plan. Alternatively, should you ever wish to profit from these adverts, you can sign up to WordAds, but there are some requirements to apply: https://wordads.co

  There are multiple ways to sell things on WordPress.com, mainly both for the Premium and Business Plan if you’re interested. As such, I wouldn’t really recommend the Personal Plan.

  You can use Simple Payments, which require either the Premium or the Business Plan: https://en.support.wordpress.com/simple-payments/

  Alternatively, if you have the Business Plan, you can install a custom plugin to sell things, with the most popular being WooCommerce. The Business Plan also has access to the Store feature: https://en.support.wordpress.com/store/

  Every plan can use PayPal though: https://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/
