Mail Forwarding
-
Hey I have mail forwarding and it conflicts with the name servers. Can I have the A record/ IP address of my site so that I can use it?

Hi there, if you wouldn’t mind explaining a little more what you’re trying to do, I’d be glad to try to help. WordPress.com sites don’t have a fixed IP address, since we use load balancing to distribute traffic among many servers.
Did you want to map a custom domain to your site, but also use a third-party mail service? Here are instructions for add email to a site.

I don’t know where to get my custom DSN records? And my domain provider said that they cant provide email forwarding if I need to use WordPress name servers. I’m a first timer and usually pretty good at this stuff but this is frustrating. The forwarding domain name works and is mapped but the email doesn’t.

You can set your custom DNS records under Store > Domains, and then clicking Edit DNS next to the domain for which you want to add records. You’ll get to this page:

The best way to map a domain to a WordPress.com blog is to set your domain’s nameservers to the following values:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMHowever, if your registrar requires that you create A records for your email forwarding to work, please note that our IPs change over time. Because of this, your domain might stop working at some point in the future. If that happens, please get in touch with us to find out the most current IPs and then update your A records accordingly.
If you still want to go ahead and map your domain using A records, please be sure to create at least two, pointing to two different IPs from the list below:
72.233.2.58
76.74.254.120
74.200.244.59
74.200.243.251
