Do I need a business plan to get a MailChimp sign-up on my blog?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi susanappleyardwriter,

You will definitely need a business plan to set up a MailChimp account.

You can refer to the pricing on plans here

    https://wordpress.com/pricing/

The documentation shows you how to setup MailChimp with your WordPress account.

    Add a Mailchimp Pop-Up

    I hope this helps.

Hello there @susanappleyardwriter, In order to use the MailChimp plugin on your WordPressdotcom site, you will need to upgrade to the Business plan.

However, the MailChimp subscriber pop-up form provided by WordPressdotcom can be used by all plans, including the free plan, as mentioned in the support guide to MailChimp that @ceoadebayo linked to.

Let us know if you have any other question about that.

Hello, I got so far in my attempt to get Mailchimp and then got stuck on embedding the form code to the HTML on my site. Where is the HTML? Where do I paste?

  • Hi there,

If you follow the instructions that everyone previously provided you’ll get the HTML code from MailChimp (after you create an account) and then paste it into MailChimp Subscriber Popup Widget.

Let me know if you’re still having trouble getting that to work.

fstat Hello. I am still having trouble with Mailchimp. I followed the instructions and obtained the code which I then copied and pasted into the Mailchimp Popup widget. I have tried several times and it does not appear on my blog. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Can you help?

  • Hi there,

The code you have inserted into the MailChimp widget is not correct. You need to get the code that looks like in this screenshot:

Please follow the instructions step-by-step and let me know if you’re still having trouble getting the correct code.

I want to thank everyone who responded to my question. I have tried everything I can think of. I’ve followed the instructions on Mailchimp several times. I’ve followed the instructions on 3 Youtube videos. I’ve looked at Mailchimp’s experts for help, but none of them seem to deal with problems related to integrating Mailchimp and WordPress. I am at a loss what to else to try. I have no choice but to give up. (Hate to use those words.)
    Thanks again.

  • Hi there –

Can you share with me here, the exact code that you are getting from MailChimp?

Hi Liz, this is an attempt from a Youtube video.

Liz, something seriously wrong here. This is NOT the same code that shows in Mailchimp. Here is one I did by following the Mailchimp instructions.

<!– Begin MailChimp Signup Form –>

    Email Address *

    <!–End mc_embed_signup–>

This is NOT the same either, although I copied and pasted. I’m totally confused.

  • You are using the code for the Mail Chimp web form embed, not for the pop-up subscription form. There are two different versions of the form in MailChimp, and you are using the wrong one.

Please follow the instructions under Subscriber Popup Form here:

    Add a Mailchimp Pop-Up

  • Unknown's avatar

Hello again, that code looks to be for an embedded signup form. What you need is the code for the Subscriber Popup.

On the MailChimp Lists dashboard, at the far right click on the down arrow next to the word STATS to open the menu https://screenshots.firefox.com/FBc9chTvluWATUkV/us18.admin.mailchimp.com and select Signup forms.

On the next screen select Subscriber Popup, from there follow the instructions to design your form and when you’re finished, click the “Generate Code” button in the lower left corner.

That will make a popup box open that looks like what @fstat showed in his reply here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/mailchimp-37/#post-3099506 Copy your code and then close that popup, making sure to then click the Publish button in the lower right corner to activate it.

Here on WordPressdotcom, paste the code that you copied into the MailChimp widget in the Customizer and publish.

Take a look again at the instructions on this page https://en.support.wordpress.com/mailchimp/ and follow along step by step.

Let us know how that goes.
