Hi there,
The steps mailchimp offers on that page gives a few options, depending on if you plan to dedicate your entire domain to Mailchimp, or if you want landing pages to be on a subdomain instead of the main URL.
Are you trying to replace your WordPress.com site at https://befriendingdragons.com/ with a Mailchimp landing page at https://befriendingdragons.com/ instead?
Or are you trying to set up landing pages on a subdomain instead, like landing.befriendingdragons.com instead, so that the site at https://befriendingdragons.com/ is not taken down?
Thanks for the additional info!
