Mailchimp double opt in
-
I’ve just integrated the Jetpack Mailchimp block to my website and have Double Opt-in check ON in Mailchimp. However, in testing users are being added directly to my list and not requiring to double opt in. How do I ensure double opt-in is working correctly?

Hi there,
How do I ensure double opt-in is working correctly? You can try with your own email address first. If you have this Gmail for example:
(email visible only to moderators and staff)you can enter the following in your Mailchimp form instead (notice the . before the @ sign) :
(email visible only to moderators and staff)This way you can check out the double opt-in easily.
For anything further regarding Mailchimp, here is their support page:
https://mailchimp.com/help/mailchimp-support-options/Hope this helps!

Hi there, just to clarify further, since the email addresses get redacted. In case you have a Gmail, simply use the same email address with the addition of a . character before the @ sign. Cheers!

Hi Thanks!
Yup, I did enter my own email address into the form and noticed it was immediately on the Mailchimp list, so something is not set up correctly. And I did verify that Double Opt-in in checked on in Mailchimp settings. So I was wondering if there’s another value/field to ensure this is working correctly… any ideas?

Hi there,
I found this document for you, about double opt-in on mailchimp’s knowledgebase:
https://mailchimp.com/help/about-double-opt-in/Hope it can help you a bit further.
By the way, what is the URL of your website or what is the name of your account on the WordPress.com platform you need assistance with?

Hello,
Thanks for that link and I can confirm my Audience settings has double Opt-in checked “On”.
Here’s my site: https://tarproductions.com

@timmytar1 Hi there and thanks for providing your site URL.
It looks like your site is not hosted with WordPress.com, but elsewhere:
https://www.whoishostingthis.com/#search=tarproductions.comBecause WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on their servers.
You can find more information here about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
https://wordpress.org/support/ is a great resource for sites using the open source WordPress.org software, and you can find support for that at: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
Also, make sure you are starting one thread per issue as this would help resolve your issues not only faster and more effectively, but also help keep track of them if they are more complex.

@timmytar1 That said, here is the guide I found on integrating the two -from mailchimp’s documentation:
