MailChimp integration

You should definitely have MailChimp integration. I want to host a subscription form to my newsletter and can’t embed it into my WP blog.
Most people don’t want to sign-up to wp.com simply to follow a blog and be able to get automatic updates. You need to offer users more options.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m hosting blog.mindmeld.io on WordPress.com, and I really need mailchimp integration. It’s very difficult to get users to sign up for my product. I really need to be able to embed a mailchimp form on each blog entry.
Please consider this!

If you already have webspace elsewhere, why not just install software from WordPress.org in the space and use that to blog on? You can embed mailchimp forms there easily.

Raincoaster, you’re completely right that I could do it myself and host a WordPress.org install. That would certainly let me embed mailchimp forms.
In my case, my spare time is spent building my web application. That’s why I paid for WordPress.com – a hosted solution means I don’t have to spend time on maintaining the blog.
I know that WordPress.com doesn’t support custom plugins, but if you look at all the plugins that come with it, I think you’d agree it’s surprising mailchimp isn’t in there – considering how popular it is.

I am going out on a limb here, but I think it’s a deliberate editorial choice to reduce the number of pure “marketing” blogs here. It could also be because it frankly introduces scary security holes.
The way WP.com is built, every blog using a given theme is exposed to the worst security risk deemed acceptable by the stupidest person using that theme. This is why we have no javascript, no iframes, no raw flash. It’s a tradeoff.
