Hi, since you’re running a site on WordPress.com you can’t actually install your own plugins.
It is not possible to install plugins on WordPress.com, for security reasons. Plugins can only be installed on self-hosted WordPress blogs. If you are wondering how WordPress.com differs from WordPress.org, this support article explains the distinction:
If you don’t find what you are looking for, just let me know what you’d like to achieve with a plugin, and I’ll help you find a solution.
However, you can install the WordPress.com “Follow Blog” widget which has similar functionality. You can read about that on the following link:

HI and thanks a lot for this information.
I use mailchimp for my newsletter and i would like to invite people to subscribe to my newsletter on my wordpress site. If i understand correctly this is not possible on a .com site.
it would be possible if i use a wordpress.org site . (is this the system where i use my own ftp server and domain and just use the wordpress to create the site?
Is there a solution to have my people subscribe on my mailchimp newsletter thru wordpress.com? -
Hi,
Switching to a self-hosted site using WordPress.org is certainly one option.
Before you go down that route you might want to consider a simpler version and see whether it works for you. MailChimp offer a possible solution on their site at this link:
http://kb.mailchimp.com/article/how-to-add-a-mailchimp-signup-form-to-your-wordpress-blog/
If you think something like this could work you could give it a go and see whether it works for you before you go through all the process of transferring a site :-)

Hi again,
This is great info! I set it up already and it works fine! Now let’s see if i get some subscribers :)
Another question : if i would decide to transfer my site, i have to use the domain that is already there ? eg. my wordpress.com is MYOWNPRIVATEI and my personal domain and hosting is http://www.jellevanseghbroeck.com? the site will come under http://www.jelle… and i cannot use http://www.myownprivatei.com ??
thanks a lot already!

Great :-)
If you do decide to transfer you will definitely be able to use whichever domain you please. There are a couple of options:
- You can transfer your domain completely to the same company where you’re hosting your website. More detail on this is available here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/transfer-domain-registration/
- Or you can choose to redirect your domain using a Site Redirect from us which you can see more detail about here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/
- Additionally, depending on which host you’re using, you can also opt for a “Guided Transfer” from us which automates a lot of the process of transferring to WordPress.org. Details on this here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/guided-transfer/
I suggest that when/if you get to that point post here again if you need assistance.
