Mailchimp popup no longer working
-
Two days in now, and I can’t solve this one.
I know how to build an audience in Mailchimp.
I know how to create signup forms and subscriber pop up.
I know how to copy the code and paste it in the widget on WP.I know to clear my cache and history, etc when I’m trying to see the popup ‘live’.
But I’m totally stumped on why it won’t work.
It did… then I tweaked the form a bit… and now it won’t anymore.
Please help.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Well, I believe I went into mailchimp and tried to add a group option and maybe a word or two in the text/body of the popup. Didn’t work. I back out and tried to resave it exactly as the original one… still not complying.
Then I tried to un-link my website and re-connect it… no go.
Thanks in advance for any insights

Hm, would you please try creating a new form from scratch following the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/mailchimp/ ?

Welp, that’s unfortunate. Built another one. Copy/pasted the code into the wordpress widget. No success. I’m at a loss.

When I “check the connection” I get this message:
“Hmm, we’re not able to detect your website to publish your pop-up. Make sure you’ve corrected pasted the code above into the header of your website. This can take a minute or two. Learn how to connect your website”
As we know, I’m not pasted the code into the “header”, but instead pasted into the widget “code field”… but this has worked in the past.
Any ideas?

And… I also tried to set up another mailchimp account and create another sign in popup, so I was starting with the “clean canvas”…
Didn’t work

I’m sorry, I apologize, I could have sworn your site was on the Business plan, I must have gotten my wires crossed at some point, but that’s the problem:
You can add the pop-up on a Business or eCommerce plan site only. This is because Mailchimp requires verification by adding code to the head of your site.

On all plans, you can use the Mailchimp block instead: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/mailchimp-block/

Yes, that’s true… except it worked for me for over a year until the other day–by just copying the code and putting it in the mailchimp widget (Appearance>widgets>mailchimp subscriber popup)
How do we explain that? It seems like something being hidden from me ;)

Hi there,

Good point. :) The pop-up feature actually used to work for all plans until several months ago when MailChimp made the verification update. So, since that time, you will get that message you received when checking your connection.
So, for users without the Business and eCommerce Plans, the Mailchimp Block would be the best option:
