Mailchimp vs Constant Contact

  I see in many forum questions that third-party plugins are not allowed, yet there is a widget for a mailchimp popup.

  Is there simply some agreement with wordpress.com and mailchimp for exclusivity, or can I use a constant contact popup code in place of mailchimp under this same widget?

  I’m trying to decide which email client to use and need to know which options I have to play well with wordpress.
