Im looking to build my blog subscribers. Just wondering if it would be better to switch to something like Mailpoet vs just using the Jetpack subscribe option?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi here,
http://glencumbus.wordpress.com/ is hosted by Wordress.COM.
See here https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/follow-blog-widget/
You can also use the Blog Subscription Shortcode https://en.support.wordpress.com/blog-subscription-shortcode/
And, Staff have recently added the mailchimp widget for subscriptions too https://en.support.wordpress.com/mailchimp/

Ive heard that when collecting subscribers you should get the first name too so you can personalize things you send out later. The word press widget doesnt offer that. Other than that, whats the difference between using the basic follow option compared to the newsletter subscribers?

Sure you have heard that from marketers. I refuse to provide my personal information and email address, and I use a throwaway email address so I don’t get spammed. Many other bloggers do the same and for the same reason.
There is no mass mailing feature here at WordPress.com. Your followers can subscribe to receive your posts by email and they can control the frequency of receipt. You cannot subscribe for them or control the frequency of receipt of your posts by them.
IMPORTANT Note: When followers or commenters provide an email address for a specific purpose you cannot use it for any other purpose. In fact doing that in Canada is against the law.
You can create a Subscribe page and clearly state on it that you intend to harvest email addresses if that’s what you want to do. http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/
You can add and customize a contact form with multiple fields, change the email address where you’ll be notified, and mark feedbacks as spam from your dashboard on that page. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/ -

Nothing.
